ICE supports World Water Day 2024
World Water Day, which is celebrated every year on 22 March at the initiative of the UN, aims to raise public awareness of water-related issues and encourage action to guarantee universal access to water. It draws everyone’s attention to the crucial importance of water and the need for sustainable management of this vital resource. ICE Water Management supports this event every 22 March.
A different theme every year
This year’s theme is “Water for Peace“, highlighting the crucial role of water in promoting cooperation and peaceful coexistence between nations. Find out more about World Water Day on the official World Water Day website.
Mobilisation for a sustainable future
World Water Day 2024 is an opportunity for everyone to commit to action for sustainable water management and the promotion of peace. By raising awareness of the importance of water and supporting cooperation initiatives, we can help build a fairer and more peaceful future for all.
World Water Day 2024, and many other events
To mark World Water Day, events are being organised all over the world. Conferences, workshops, exhibitions, awareness-raising campaigns… there are many initiatives aimed at informing the public about water-related issues and encouraging action.
Act for water
This day is also an opportunity to remember that we all have a role to play in protecting and managing water in a sustainable way. Here are a few simple things we can all do, “because every drop counts“:
- Reducing our water consumption
- Stop wasting water
- Protecting water sources
- Supporting water initiatives
In our article published on our website to mark World Water Day 2023, we wrote that a water action programme would be presented at the United Nations Water Conference to coincide with the day. This was the first event of its kind for 50 years.
The UN Water Conference 2023 adopted this Water Agenda for Action. It represents the voluntary commitments made by nations and relevant groups to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their water-related targets.
The results of the conference are also being followed up at three major summits: the Summit on Sustainable Development Goals (09/23), the Summit for the Future (09/24) and the World Social Summit in 2025.
